David Fierroz

David is in the college class of 2011. For the summers of 07 & 08 David taught Astronomy to middle school students as part of the Breakthrough Collaborative. For the past couple of years he has worked with the Experimental Gravity Group at Columbia and for the summer of 2010 he worked on the IceCube Neutrino Observatory.

Laura Vican

Laura is a senior at Barnard College majoring in Astrophysics. She does research for Professors David Schiminovich and Joseph Patterson, concentrating on binary star systems and disk dynamics. Laura enjoys observing, cooking, and the N64 version of Super Smash Bros.

Marina Cassio

Marina is a Columbia College senior, majoring in Astrophysics and Political Science. Her research of late has fit more into the life sciences side of the questions of astrobiology, including work on photosynthetic pigments with NASA GISS, and on phytoplankton and zooplankton populations with the Sea Education Association. She spends her free time jamming on fiddle, singing, dancing, and making the most of New York.

Sam Grunblatt

Sam is an astrophysics major in the Columbia College Class of 2013. He has done research with professors Joseph Patterson on cataclysmic variables and Szabolcs Marka concerning the gravitational waves of pulsar kicks. In his spare time, he enjoys skiing, making music, and stickin' it to the man with the Columbia Kingsmen.

Diana Windemuth

Diana is a senior astronomy major at Barnard College. She's interested in galaxy formation and evolution and is currently doing extra-galactic neutral hydrogen research.
